The Good Dog Project

The Good Dog Project

HELPING BEAGLES FIND THEIR JOY, ONE TAIL WAG AT A TIME

The Good Dog Project is an enrichment program specially designed to support our

clever, curious beagle friends while they wait for their forever homes. Beagles are

scent-driven, intelligent, and full of energy. In a shelter environment, they can quickly

become bored, stressed, or anxious without enough mental and physical stimulation.

That’s where The Good Dog Project comes in!

What Does This Program Do?

This enrichment program gives Beagles the chance to do what they love most

— sniff, explore, learn and bond. Through a mix of fun, calm, and challenging

activities, the program helps reduce stress and prepare them for life in a home. The

Good Dog Project is tailored to meet each dog’s personality and needs. By combining

play, learning, and calm, structured challenges, the program is designed to bring out

the best in any dog.

Why Does It Matter?

Shelter life can be overwhelming for any dog, but for a smart, sensitive Beagle, it

can be especially challenging. The Good Dog Project helps them stay happy, healthy, and

emotionally balanced — making them even more adoptable. When a beagle

participates in this program, they’re not just passing time, they’re building confidence,

learning new skills, and getting ready to be someone’s best friend.

What Is Offered?

● Scent Work & Puzzle Games: Engage your dog’s powerful nose and brain

through fun scent trails and food puzzles.

● Confidence Building: Obstacle courses, new textures, and novel environments

help shy or anxious dogs gain confidence.

● Social Skills & Manners: Guided social interactions with other dogs and

humans improve communication and behaviour.

● Creative Training Sessions: Teach fun tricks and reinforce good behaviour

using positive reinforcement methods.

● Calm & Relaxation Exercises: Teach dogs how to settle, self-soothe, and rest

after activity.

● Doggy Day Outs: Borrow a shelter pup for a field trip! Whether it is a day in the

park, a beach stroll, or an afternoon hike, this is a great way to socialise our

pups, while giving them a break from the shelter. They’ll also love the attention!

● Bunk-A-Beagle: Take a shelter pup home for a night of cuddles and couch time.

A comfy sleepover will help them relax in the comfort of a home and give us

valuable insight into their house behavior.
