SupaJakey
I
wanted to share our story about our wonderful beagle, Jake.
We live in a small town on the Northern Peninsula of about 900 people.
Jake was a stray dog, I don’t think anyone in town owned him and
that he ran away, but we believe that he came from a neighboring
community, actually... that he was dropped off here. There were a
couple beagles in town at the time Jake showed up. Everywhere we would
go and see this
beagle, I would assume it was one of the townspeople’s
beagles. Until one night, this cute little dog showed up at a video store
where I was working. He looked so hungry, the only thing I had to
offer him was potato chips (I know, not very healthy for a dog, but I
had to give him something.) He ate the whole bag!.
I called the owner
of one of the beagles in town, and told him I had his dog, but he
quickly assured me his dog was sitting with him on his lap!! The only
other beagle in town was female, and this pooch at the video store was
male! I then realized,... no one owned him, and the beagle I kept
seeing all over town was actually a stray. Then and there I was
determined to help this cute little dog. The next day I bought some
dog food and beef jerky, hoping to catch a glimpse of him around town
somewhere.
I found him in a ditch .. all balled up in the grass. I tried to
coax him into the car. I had to shut off the motor, and gently picked
him up and put him in the back seat. (he was NOT impressed with this)
I brought him home, gave him food and water, he ate so much, and so
fast that his gums were bleeding.
He is a very sweet and
loving dog. I don’t regret taking him in at all. He is great
company, great with kids, great with other dogs, just an all-round
great dog. He is the best and I love him. Around the house is he
affectionately known as "SupaJakey"! I’m not sure how many
more years he will live, but we are determined that he will live
"the good life" and be happy, however much longer his life
may be!
