Pearl THANK YOU to everyone who purchased a ticket on this giant stocking donated by Critters and Things.         Start a "Chain Reaction" Campaign The SPCA in St. John's, NL, has started a campaign to improve animal welfare by changing the following: 1.  Chained Dogs - they are three times more likely to bite; they live their whole life on the end of ropes or chains. They become bored, lonely, and frustrated which leads to anger and aggression. 2.  Backyard Breeders - these people breed dogs regardless of their health and temperament. These dogs are sold without contract to anyone who has the cash. 3.  Penned Dogs - many dogs particularly hunting dogs such as beagles are living in inhumane conditions and are kept in wire cages for long periods of time without exercise or veterinary care. Luckily someone from the town contacted one of our Beagle Paws volunteers and he has now been reunited with his Mom, Lisa Barrett Hot Dogs That's right we have some "Hot Dogs".  Poor ventilation and the summer's heat has had big impact on our indoor doggy play facility. We have started a fund to raise money for an air conditioner, we are also accepting Canadian Tire money for this fund. Beagle Shot and Killed UPDATE - Feb. 17/06 (courtesy of VOCM news) Man Charged in Dog Shooting A 73 year old man from Bonavista has been charged in connection with the alleged shooting and death of a dog in the community. RCMP say they received a complaint from the dog's owner on February 4th.   Police say the accused has been charged with careless use of a firearm and injuring an animal.  He'll appear in court March 28th. Seeking Information On Saturday, January 28th two adult beagles were shot at close range in the woods off Windgap Rd. in the community of Flatrock, NL. View news article click here 3rd Annual "For the Love of Beagles" Silent Auction & Chocolate Buffet THANK YOU ! Chocolate lovers did rejoice this past Sunday night at the Bella Vista.  The chocolate buffet was a big hit and even included a crepe station.  Where you could get chocolate crepe's made to order. Thank you to everyone who donated their time, desserts and items for auction.  We would also like to Thank Leanne Sharpe (Hits 99.1FM) and Maggie Gillis (K-Rock).  Plus  Damian Follett and Greg Bulger.   We have a WINNER ! The lucky winner of our Valentine Sweetheart draw was Tanus White of Paradise, NL.  The draw took place at our Valentine Auction on Feb. 12th at the Bella Vista.
