The Pet Shop Puppy
Please think twice before you purchase that puppy in the window.
It is a case of "buyer beware", reputable CKC
breeders do not
sell to pet shops. By purchasing a pet shop puppy
there is a high
risk that your puppy could be
from a puppy mill.

Christmas Message 2005
Every Christmas many
beagles have to spend their days in animal shelters in Newfoundland.

It's A Small World

Kringles is doing
great! He's just a real sweetheart to everyone. We very
much enjoy having him as a part of our family.
We have discovered just what a small world it is since we've brought Kringles
home to Alberta. My sister was telling her best friend about Kringles, he goes
to University in St. John's, NL, and it turns out that he was fostering a
Beagle Paws dog. We discovered that the receptionist at our vet's office was
from Newfoundland and her dog is from Beagle Paws as well. We had only had
Kringles for about 2 or 3 days when our neighbours from down the street came
out to meet him during one of his walks. It turns out they've been wanting a
beagle for awhile, so we gave them your website to look into. About two weeks
later, Sydney (formerly known as Rosie) moved into our neighborhood too!
Just know that Kringles is
healthy, has adjusted really well to our home and we love having him.
Kimberly Johnson (Alberta)

What happens to the Beagles who can't Hunt?
Rabbit hunting season is in full
swing in Newfoundland and Labrador which makes this the busiest time of
year for our group.
Unfortunately not every beagle
makes a good hunting dog and not every hunter is a responsible dog owner.
There are many responsible hunters out there who treat their beagles with
all the love and compassion that a pet owner should, those hunters we
respect.
However, some still see the beagle as a
hunting tool something that can be disposed of at the end of rabbit season.
Beagles who aren't outstanding in their hunting ability this time year are
often just let go to fend for themselves. Many of these helpless dogs end up
at the local shelters or are picked up by kind citizens.
Below are some links that provide a
better insight to what challenges our organization will encounter over the next
few months.
