“It’s Raining Cats & Dogs” in Calgary

Stop by and visit the friendly beagles for adoption on Sat. Mar. 10, 11am – 3pm @ BowDog, 6909 Farrell Rd., Calgary AB – you might just find your new best friend.
Why Should I Adopt A Senior Dog ?

Many people automatically think of a puppy when they think of adopting a dog. Puppies are warm and cuddly, and everyone wants to hold and pet them. But puppies demand patience and energy to help them become wonderful family members and companions. Older dogs, however, can be as cute and lovable as puppies, and they often come with many wonderful qualities that puppies take years to grow into.
Maybe you are reluctant to adopt a senior dog because you fear that your time with your new best friend will be short, bringing that painful time of loss closer. But the privilege of loving a senior dog makes every single day special, as you and your companion share love, friendship, and a special relationship that grows stronger with the knowledge that you have given this fine old dog a second chance at life. The love that grows from this knowledge is stronger than the pain of eventual separation.
So spread the word! Adopting a senior dog is a wonderful experience for you and your new dog. You will gain a faithful companion. You will save a life. And don’t forget, senior dogs and senior people bring out the best in each other. Old dogs make great friends!
Fostering
Foster homes are the backbone of our organization and we never have enough! They are the wonderful people that provide a loving home to help get our beagles ready for adoption. Without fosters, we could not continue to help so many animals! for more information on our fostering program please CLICK HERE

Is this how any dog should live ?

Many of our supporters have adotped rescued beagles from conditions like this. And they can all testify to what great family pets they are.
Sadly there are still many beagles that continue to live in these conditions in Newfoundland. This photo was taken recently in the St. John’s metro area of our province. The new provincial animal control regulations have still not been passed – time may not be an issue with the governing authorities but in the lives of these innocent animals every day matters.
Visit our Page of Shame to see more and find out how you can make a difference.

Happy Birthday !

January 2012 will mark the 9th year anniversary since the formation of Beagle Paws. Over the years we have grown to extend our help to beagles in need right across Canada and now have 6 chapters in several provinces. We have also placed close to 1400 beagles in loving homes and helped a number of beagles with emergency care. None of this could be possible with out the dedication of our great volunteers. Since our organization is volunteer based we rely on the commitment and individual talents that each volunteer brings with them.
We look forward to further growth, which will in turn allow us to help save the lives of more beagles across Canada.
We THANK YOU for all your support and look forward to 2012. If you would like information on volunteering with Beagle Paws please visit our volunteer page.
