Beagle Paws Adoptions

Keeda has one of the sadest stories that we have had to tell in a long time. We received a call about a beagle that was hanging around a warf in a small community. A couple of our volunteers went out late one night to see this dog and sure enough she was there. Keeda had made a bed in fishing nets on the rocky bank.

She was very timid and crawled on her belly to meet us. Upon further inspection we realized that Keeda was a nursing Mom. We then spoke to some of the locals who believed her puppies were thrown over the warf and this is why she would not leave the area.

Keeda was taken into our care on the same day we recieved a call from someone who had a 2 day old puppy whose Mom died while giving birth. The next day we thought we had the answer for both Keeda and this new born pup, we would unite the two and hopefully Keeda would nurse this puppy.

Sadly, the puppy passed away just minutes before introducing the two. We were all heartbroken.

That afternoon a kind lady decided to take Keeda home to foster and give her all the TLC she needed. We were all so relieved and happy that Keeda would get this special attention. However, within days of Keeda going into foster care she became very ill and we discovered that she had "Pyometra", this is an infection that Mommy dogs can get after giving birth. She required emergency spay surgery and it was very much touch and go for a couple of days.

We are now happy and confident to say that Keeda is on the mend. This sweet loving girl has been through so much, we are hoping she finds her forever home soon (PS. the foster Mom is considering adopting Keeda)

Keeda's bills came to close to $600 which we need to recover so we can help more beagles in need.
